Dear Friends

Wow! In the midst of the devastation, need, and distractions caused by Hurricane Harvey, you really came through for us. Our gala raised $37,000 in much-needed funds to continue our program of giving a caring “hand-up” to the homeless in our area. We know that some of those present at the gala had their homes flooded as well. Your generosity and enthusiasm for this program are more than touching; it is both overwhelming and humbling.

Harvey also served to swell the ranks of our potential guests, so needless to say our program is operating a full capacity, with four families staying with us. While some of our church partners were flooded themselves and others are hosting various recovery teams and ministries, our families have been staying in private homes in the evenings. We hope to be back into our normal mode of staying in churches very soon.

Many of you have seen the exciting announcement from our Executive Director that a generous donor gave us an automobile recently. Since there is no local public transportation in our community, getting to/from work has been an obstacle for a number families who were otherwise ideal candidates for our program. This car will give us yet another tool to serve such families. What a blessing!

Our work is far from finished, with more families to love and counsel, events to sponsor, funds to raise, and challenges ahead. With friends and supporters like you, our outlook is filled with optimism and determination to make a difference in our community and the lives of those whom we serve.

From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you!

For the Board and Staff,
Steve Sargent
Fundraising Co-Chair

Family Promise recently received a $5000 grant from the Valero Foundation. Brent Hawkins, a member of Southeast Church of Christ and twenty year employee of Valero, applied for the grant in the name of Family Promise. Here he is seen presenting the check to Emmanuel Favor, Executive Director of Family Promise of Clear Creek.
